keep working towards peace efforts to establish a strong
peaceful relationship with neighboring countries,…"
- said Senator Akel Biltaji at the Tourism4Peace General
Meeting.
1. The
Tourism4Peace (T4P) Forum held its 4th
General Meeting at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel,
Jordan, between June
24-26, 2007. It was attended by 27 participants from
Egypt, Israel,
Jordan and the private
sector of the Palestine Authority.
2. The General
Meeting has approved the T4P Forum bylaws and elected
Michel Nazzal,
Chairman of the Board of
the Jordan Hotel Association as its first Chairman.
Other Board Members
elected were:
Abdul Hakeem
Al-Hindi, General Manager, Jordanian Hospitality and
Tourism
Education Company
Dr. (Mrs.)
Leila Nabhan, Manager, Marketing Development, Five
Continents Travel, Cairo
Raed Sa'adeh,
President, Arab (Palestinian) Hotel Association
Richard Elias,
Board Member, Holyland Incoming Tour Operators
Association
Ronen Leshem,
Director, Business and Economic Department.
Peres Center of Peace,
Tel Aviv
Ami Etgar,
Managing Director, Israel Incoming Tour Operators
Association. Chairmanship is
for one year and will be
on a rotation basis, alphabetically, starting with
Jordan. The
members of the Board will
also serve for one year.
Janos Damon was elected Permanent
Secretary General.
4. The General
Meeting established a new working plan for joint
marketing and promotionary
efforts and for joint
professional training.
5. Facilitating
border crossings for both, incoming tourists and the
local population will be one of
the main efforts of the
T4P Forum.
6. The T4P Forum
will continue to function under the umbrella of the
Peres Center for Peace.
Funding for the
marketing, professional training and other professional
activities will be
obtained through the
Peres Center and through T4P Forum members' efforts.
7. We are grateful
to CHN University, Holland and to Professor Omar
Moufakkir, holding the
Tourism4Peace Chair for
their contribution to peace tourism research.
